DINE AND DISCOVER, AGAIN! Sydneysiders to get ANOTHER $100 in vouchers to spend on food

But this time, there’s a catch - and there’s only a limited amount. Here’s how to get your hands on them.

Sydney on high alert after airline driver tests positive to COVID-19

Sydneysiders are set to get another set of $100 vouchers to spend at hospitality venues in a bid to revive the city’s CBD.

But this time around, only 500,000 vouchers will be made available, according to the Daily Telegraph.

What’s more is that they will only be allowed to be spent in the CBD, at venues with a 2000 postcode.

The $50 million measure is set to be included in next week’s budget.

Like the Dine and Discover vouchers, which included four $25 vouchers that were used separately, the Friday lunch vouchers will also be split up into four $25 vouchers.

However, unlike the first voucher program, the new vouchers can be used together on a single bill.

The vouchers will only be allowed to be used on Fridays to entice those who work from home at the end of the week to come back into the city.

“Friday is a fun day — we have listened to businesses and industry and want to kickstart the weekend,” NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet said.

“This will be a targeted program designed to get people back into the CBD and boost business.

“We want people to come in, enjoy what our city has to offer, spend a little extra on retail and services businesses, and in the process create jobs and stimulate the economy.

“It’s about making Fridays fantastic (and) helping the Sydney CBD, which has been hardest hit by the challenges of COVID.”

The vouchers are set to be available via the Service NSW app.

Acting Executive Director of Business Sydney Damian Kelly welcomed the treasurer’s announcement.

“A free Friday lunch on the government will entice workers into the CBD and boost business, not just for hospitality venues but for many other businesses in the city on days when the city streets are still very empty in the nation’s once thriving economic driver,” Kelly said in a statement.

“It’s hoped this initiative will kick-start a permanent return to city offices on Fridays for the thousands still working from home and we strongly encourage staff to return to their workplaces to help drive the engine room of the state’s economy.

“The CBD is still running below 70% of pre-Covid capacity, considerably less on Mondays and Fridays, so the incentive for workers of four $25 vouchers to enjoy a lunch in the 2000 postcode will be money well spent in this pre-budget stimulus.

NSW’s Dine and Discover vouchers, which were offered to every adult in the state, expire at the end of July.
