They are now trying to piece together his final movements.

Following inquiries, police learned that Scott parked his car near the park around 9.30pm on April 24.

Another search of the pond on May 29 uncovered clothing that belonged to Scott.

Superintendent Jason Box said there were several reasons police believe Scott’s death is suspicious.

“It’s obviously suspicious due to the fact that he was located in this pond area, he was submerged, he’d been there for some time,” Box told reporters.

“Why he was there, we don’t know, and obviously we have no information that would suggest why he was there and that fact that would appear that he has drowned.

“All those things together, collectively, leads us to believe this is suspicious.”

Box added Scott had no known attachments to the area other than that he lived close by in Brighton Le Sands.

“It’s definitely unusual,” he said.

Police have released CCTV images of people who were around the park that day.

They’re not believed to have been involved in the death, but investigators want to speak to them as part of their inquiries.

“We do want to speak with them to see if they have any information whatsoever that can assist us,” Box said.

“They might not think it’s significant but it may be to the investigators.”

Anyone who may have been or spoken with Scott in his final days is urged to come forward.
