Tragedy as man dies after car careers into tree on wet Sydney road

His car smashed into the tree in Sydney’s northern suburbs just before 9am on Monday morning.

A man has died in a single-car crash in Sydney’s north.

Police were called to Mona Vale Road near the intersection of Cooyong Road in Terrey Hills about 8.30am on Monday.

Initial investigations determined the car left the road and collided into a tree.

The driver, a man who is yet to be formally identified, died in the crash.

He was the sole occupant of the car.

The crash resulted in a buildup of traffic on Monday morning, with one lane closed in each direction.

Drivers were advised to reduce their speed and exercise caution.

A crime scene has been established.

Police will now probe the circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether the wet weather conditions contributed to the crash.

Nobody else was injured in the crash.
