Caboolture 'burnout driver' learns fate of bail application as boy struck by wheel remains in hospital

The five-year-old boy was walking with his dad and brother when he was struck by the wheel in Queensland.

Child in critical condition after 'burnout'

A teenager who allegedly performed a burnout that caused his car’s wheel to come off and seriously injure a young boy has been granted bail.

Blake Jennings-Davey, 18, was driving his Ford Falcon ute on Wednesday afternoon in Caboolture when he allegedly performed the burnout.

As a result, the vehicle’s wheel came off and hit a five-year-old boy walking on a nearby footpath with his dad and brother.

Jennings-Davey was arrested at the scene and charged with four offences.

He faced court on Thursday where bail was originally refused, but it was then granted when he fronted court again on Friday.

Police allege the 18-year-old showed no remorse following the incident, simply walking past the boy on the footpath to collect his wheel.

The case returns to court in January.

Investigators are urging anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.
