A man has been charged after allegedly sexually assaulting an unconscious woman after she had suffered a medical episode in an inner Sydney apartment.
Detectives commenced an investigation last month after the 40-year-old woman reported the incident to police.
Police will allege in court that the woman was sexually assaulted by a man, who she knew socially, in an Ultimo apartment on February 17.

Detective Inspector David El-Badawi said police allege the man had visited the woman to assist with moving some furniture around the apartment when she suffered a medical episode.
He said the woman has an undisclosed medical condition, which requires ongoing treatment, that causes her to “blackout for several minutes at a time”.
“The (alleged) victim woke up alone and realised something untoward occurred and after some time reported it to police,” he told reporters.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 27-year-old Lakemba man on Monday morning.
He was taken to Campsie Police Station and charged with aggravated sexual assault while his victim was cognitively impaired.
‘It’s horrific’
“To take advantage of someone who needs medical attention, it’s a low act, it’s horrific, it’s not acceptable by anyone’s standards,” El-Badawi said.
“(She), understandably, is still shaken and is undergoing counselling and we’re in constant contact with (her).”
The Lakemba man did not apply for bail at Bankstown Local Court on Tuesday and will remain behind bars until his next court appearance in June.
