The public bus ended up directly on top of the man’s car in the tragic smash.

Sydney driver trapped under a bus has died

A driver has died after his vehicle became trapped under a bus at a busy Sydney intersection on Friday morning.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Warren Road and the Liverpool to Parramatta TransitWay at Smithfield just after 11.30am following reports of a serious crash.

Police officers and NSW Ambulance paramedics attended the scene, where they found the male driver trapped underneath the bus.

NSW Police confirmed to 7NEWS.com.au that the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

The bus driver is uninjured.

NSW Ambulance said the specialist medical team that responded to the crash wasn’t required to treat anyone for injuries, as the driver had already died at the scene.

Police have established a crime scene and have launched an investigation into the fatal incident.

The Liverpool-Parramatta T-Way is currently closed between Percival Rd and Fairfield Rd.
