Female car passenger dies after car and bus collide in Parramatta

A woman has died in a collision between a bus and a car in Sydney’s west.

Police were called to Argyle Street in Parramatta about 8am on Saturday on reports a sedan and a bus had collided.

The front-seat passenger of the sedan, a woman in her 40s, was unable to be freed from the wreckage and died on the scene.

The driver of the car, a man believed to be aged in his 40s, and the male bus driver, were both taken to Westmead Hospital for minor injuries and mandatory testing.

There were no passengers on the bus at the time.

Argyle Street was closed between O’Connell and Pitt Streets.

Motorists were told to expect delays.

The incident is under investigation by officers between the Crash Investigation Unit and Parramatta local police.
