Reward offered to solve NSW bikie murder

Police are offering a $1 million reward for information about the shooting murder of former bikie Adrian Buxton in Sydney's west nearly five years ago.
Police are trying to solve the murder of ex-Nomads bikie Adrian Buxton in Sydney's west in 2016.

A $1 million reward is being offered for anyone who can help solve the murder of a former bikie gunned down in his western Sydney driveway almost five years ago.

Police say former Nomads bikie Adrian Buxton died in a hail of bullets after being ambushed by two gunmen while putting out garbage bins at his home in Colyton, near Penrith, about 9pm on May 19, 2016.

The men fled in a vehicle parked a short distance from the home.

Police on Wednesday renewed their appeal for anyone with information to come forward, with a $1 million reward now on offer.

The Buxton family says it's grateful the reward is being offered and live in "hope that one day we may find justice for Adrian".

"Adrian was a loving son, brother, husband and father, and is missed dearly by our family every day," the family said in a statement.

"He was taken from us far too soon and we wish that he was still with us today to see his son grow."

Detectives have identified three vehicles travelling together in the vicinity at the time of the murder.

In September 2016, police conducting a separate investigation seized a firearm while searching a home in Cabramatta. Two men were arrested and charged with firearm-related offences.

A subsequent ballistic examination linked the weapon to Buxton's murder.

Detectives also seized one of the vehicles believed to have been in the area at the time of the murder.

Homicide Squad Commander Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty said while one of the vehicles believed to have been involved in the incident was recovered in 2016, police were still seeking information on two others, including a black Audi Q7.

"We believe there were five or more people involved in this incident and detectives are urging anyone with information about the identities of those involved, as well as the planning and aftermath, to come forward," Det Supt Doherty said.

"It has been a long five years for Adrian's family and we remain hopeful that we can provide much-needed answers to his mother, wife and young son."
