Dani, a commuter who filmed the altercation, told 7NEWS.com.au the argument began when the driver politely asked the passenger to wear a mask or get off the bus.

“She refused to get off the bus and then sat down and wouldn’t get up,” she said.

“She screamed curse words and when he called the police she said she would call the police on him and was taking his photo.”

The driver can be seen in the footage trying to shield his face from the camera.

“You’re going to make me miss my appointment,” she yells as she slams the screen, repeatedly screaming “why”.

The driver tells her to get off the bus, which she does.

She can be heard continuing to call the driver a “f*****g mutt” as he closes the door on her.

As the video ends, he can be heard saying: “Have a nice day.”

Mask wearing remains mandatory on public transport across Greater Sydney, Wollongong and the Blue Mountains under the Public Health Order.

A Transport for NSW spokesperson told 7NEWS.com.au the confrontation was being investigated.

“Transport for NSW expects all customers travelling on our services to respect frontline workers who have continued to do an incredible job maintaining full service levels across public transport throughout the pandemic.”
