Women ‘attacked by man with samurai sword’ inside Annandale home

The pair sought help from neighbours following the attack.

Two women are in hospital after they were allegedly assaulted by a man with a samurai sword at a Sydney home.

Emergency services were called to a home on Ferris Street in Annandale on Monday at about 5am following reports two women were injured.

Police were told a man allegedly punched a 27-year-old woman in the head before a 29-year-old woman intervened.

The second was then struck with a weapon, believed to be a samurai sword.

The man fled the scene on foot as the women sought help from neighbours.

The two women were treated at the scene for their injuries by paramedics before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

They both remain in a stable condition.

Police established a crime scene and a number of items, including a samurai sword, were seized for examination.

The man, aged 44, was arrested after being found behind a parked car by police who were patrolling the area.

He was taken to hospital under police guard after suffering an injury during the arrest.

The trio are all known to each other, NSW Police said in a statement.

Investigations continue.
